Tax Time

It’s that time of year again…

“What?!?” you say. “It’s not April 15!!”

No, it is time to feed Pookah!

Wrong, dear reader. Now, when your tax documents are filling your mailbox, is the BEST time to start doing your taxes.

  1. You’re not rushed.
  2. You’ll make fewer mistakes.
  3. You’ll get your refund sooner.
  4. If you owe on your taxes, you can find out how much, budget for it, then delay sending the payment in until April so that you can earn 2-3 months of interest on it.
  5. If you’ve made a serious mistake somewhere, you have more time and ability to contact a professional for help straightening it out… and the professional will actually have time to do something about it.
  6. You can take a catnap in a nice comfy-nest near Pookah.

So start gathering together all those receipts, tax prep software, and documents. Start making those summary lists so you can just plug in the numbers (either on paper or in the computer). Start making those copies of the receipts. And if you have a computer (and own your own business), now is a good time to get one of those all-in-one ink jet/scanner/fax devices from Brother so you can just scan in all the paperwork, burn the images to a CD, and stick it in your Safe Location, just in case. If you have a hired professional handling your taxes, please, be kind. Get your stuff together and sorted out FIRST. Your hired professional will thank you for not waiting until the last minute.

If you finish your tax filing by the second week in February, give yourself a Pookah Paw of Approval! While everyone else is running around like the Tazmanian devil on a caffeine overdose, you can kick back, relax, and pet Pookah.

Leave Pookah’s paws alone! I just cleaned them.
